Taher Salama, head of Egypt's state-owned Transport and Engineering Company (Trenco) has announced plans to build the biggest car tyre factory in the Middle East at a cost of EGP600m, Reuters has reported. Located in El-Amerya, west of the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, the new factory will be able to produce half a million tyres annually and will take two years to build. Egyptian, Arab and foreign investors will take part in the factory's financing.
